Trading sugar can be sweet or sour, depending on the strength of your positions; just ask anyone who has been hit by this commodity’s recent 21-month low. But one sure way to ensure your chances of a sweet trade is to keep up with all of the latest news concerning sugar futures and overall commodity markets. In an effort to help traders stay up-to-date with everything happening in the world of sugar, we outline seven people to follow on Twitter to help keep you ahead of the game [see also The Ten Commandments of Commodity Investing].

  1. @alljimrogers: Though not run by Mr. Rogers himself, the account is dedicated to any stories featuring commentary or those that are written by Jim Rogers himself. Clearly, this option is not focused on just sugar, but with a deep agricultural focus, this Twitter handle can let you in on market news before the general masses.   2. @hainvestor: Hard Assets Investor is a commodity-focused site who is extremely active in the Twitter world. With roughly 11,000 tweets, the company is very quick to bring investing news to the forefront and often interacts with its followers. Again, this pick is not based on sugar alone, but keeping your eyes peeled can let you in on this soft commodity.
  3. @phillipfutures: Though the following base is relatively small, this Twitter handle is an extremely active user that gives a more global perspective on commodities being that it is based in Indonesia. Sugar is a big money crop in a number of Asian emerging markets, so investors will find plenty of news to chew on from PT Futures.
  4. @cmegroup: This will be a very broad-based follow due to the nature of the CME Group, but it will still be essential for anyone looking for sugar news. This institution has over 750,000 followers and usually tweets once per hour if not more .

  6. @seeryfutures: Also featured as one of our best blogs for sugar futures, Seery futures has a heavy commodity focus, especially on the softs. As far as activity is concerned, Seery tweets anywhere between 20 and 50 times per day depending on trends they see developing in certain commodities.
